Creating Your Own Practice

Often students tell me that they don't have an at-home practice because they don't know where to start.

My advice is to Start with what you like.

Do you hate sun salutations? Guess what, you don't have to do them!! Do you love happy baby? Go ahead, Start with it! Just because many classes place happy baby at the end of a sequence doesn't mean that you have to.

The beauty of a home practice is that you can do whatever you'd like!

This video is a snip it of one of my practices from the summer. I had already practiced some lunges and dancing warriors and was playing with balancing on one leg for an extended period of time.

Feel free to replicate this short balance play or just use it as inspiration for creating your own flow. Either way, take it at a pace that allows you to connect the movements to the breath. Can you notice your tendencies and the sensations in the mind and body?

Let me know if you have any questions about starting and/or sustaining your practice at home. Or, share with us the obstacles that stand in your way of having one.

Be well, Be kind and try to have a sense of humor when shit isn't working the way you expected it to.
